Index of adoption and use of electronic banking in Mexico
Keywords:
information and communication technology, financial inclusion, educational level, governance, quantitative analysis.Abstract
The main objective of this article is to construct a composite index that allows us to analyze and measure the level of digital banking adoption in Mexico and the socioeconomic factors associated with it. The methodological design was quantitative and based on a multiple correspondence model with data from the 2021 and 2024 National Financial Inclusion Survey (ENIF). The results show that the most influential socioeconomic variable is educational level, specifically higher education (bachelor's, master's, and doctorate), especially in the use of mobile applications to carry out banking transactions. We conclude that the use of electronic banking is increasing among population groups with access to graduate levels of education; however, digital banking has not reached the most vulnerable population, so governance strategies are required to improve this situation.References
